Facial Massages: The Secret To Younger-Looking Skin?

Facial Massages: The Secret To Younger-Looking Skin?

Is your face looking tired, strained and lacklustre? Then you should definitely consider facial massages.

Soothing, relaxing, complete and utter stress-relief – we often talk about the benefits of body massages, but what about facial massages?

Often over-looked, facial massages play an important role in the appearance of fresh, dewy and younger-looking skin. Just like a full-body massage, they leave us feeling and looking like a new and improved version of ourselves.

Best of all, facial massages don’t cost the earth. Unlike body massages, they can be effectively carried out at home.

Here are five specific reasons you should start incorporating facial massages into your beauty regime today.

1. Facial massages relieve tension

benefits of facial massage
All that smiling can make your skin tense.

Whether you’re a frowner or a smiler, the muscles on your face work harder than you think to express your emotions. The regular use of facial muscles causes them to become tense, and just as a body massage limbers up your limbs, a facial massage relaxes facial muscles.

By relieving the tension in the muscles around your eyes, brow, cheeks and mouth through massage, they will become supple and relaxed once more.

2. Facial massages increase circulation

Is your skin looking dull and tired? Do you long for perfectly plump, dewy-looking skin? Increasing circulation with a facial massage could help.

Improved circulation encourages the supply of blood and oxygen to our face. As a result, it appears plumper, tauter and will also experience improved colouration.

3. Get a facelift, the natural way!

There’s no need to go under the knife to lift up those lines and banish bags. A facial massage, when done correctly, helps bring oxygen to the area. This, in turn, improves collagen production, plumping out wrinkles, resulting in a ‘lifting’ effect.

4. Face products will be better absorbed following a facial massage

Help your skin products work their magic.

Faith In Nature’s products are extremely reasonably priced, but you should still make sure you’re getting your money’s worth out.

While many of us pay much attention to the products we put on our faces, often, little effort is employed in their application.

You may think liberally rubbing a dollop of moisturiser onto your face is enough to get the job done, but there’s a much more effective method. Employing some facial massaging techniques into the application of skincare helps them be absorbed by the skin.

By getting tapping the product onto your skin with your fingers, you will stimulate more absorption. This means your skincare can do its job properly, and you’ll start to see it improve your skin as a result.

Facial Massaging Techniques

Get brighter-looking skin today!

You don’t need to spend a fortune to get a really great facial massage. In fact, learn a few techniques and you won’t even have to see a professional at all.

The key to facial massaging is using soft and delicate movements, so as not to damage the skin, whilst also applying enough pressure to stimulate blood flow.

To guide you through the process, here are some general rules to adhere to:

  • Spend 10 – 20 minutes on your facial massage. Keep it around or under 10 if you have oily skin.
  • Start from the inside of your face, slowly working your way out.
  • Use a range of techniques, including massaging and light tapping and pinching motions to stimulate blood flow.
  • When massaging, use upwards, circular motions – remember, you want to ‘lift’ the skin not drag it down.
  • Pay particular attention to soft lines around the mouth, eyes and brows as this is where your skin will most benefit from increased blood flow.

All that’s needed is a few minutes spent massaging a day to see a vast improvement in the appearance of your skin. Remember, the products you use are only as good as the skin they’re applied to – make sure yours is the best it can be!

Expert Tip: Alongside facial massages, the skin should be exfoliated twice a week to remove dead skin cells. I highly recommend Faith In Nature’s Exfoliating Polish, which contains blackcurrant seeds to smoothen and revitalise skin.

I hope I've convinced you about the benefits of facial massages. How do you take care of your skin? I'd love to hear in the comments below.

Stephanie, Sorry to say bt there are quite a few spelling and careless (not grammatical, just careless) mistakes here, I just though i'll bring it to your notice. I'm sure you sent this out in a hurry. No proof readers around? As a writer myself, I could not focus on the tips because my eyes were going over the errors that I felt should not happen by professionals like you who write daily for e.g : 'collagen' not 'collages production' 'taut' not 'taught skin' not 'getting tapping the product' but just 'tapping the product' not 'blog flow' but 'blood flow' Did not check for more. I hope there are no more! Mel

There are facial exercises (Google) that are wonderful for tightening the neck, jaw line, and frown lines which combined with massage provide great results especially for older ladies.

Hi Jo. You're absolutely right - facial exercises can be extremely effective too. Often we forget that our face contains muscles, and just like the rest of the body, these muscles can be built up to give a firmer, tighter complexion. Thanks a lot for sharing :)
