Do you find yourself getting angry at work or at home? Read on for our top ways to keep calm in a stressful situation.
1. Write it down
Grab a piece of paper and a pen. Write down all the things that are making you stressed. Once you've finished - rip up the paper and throw it in the bin.
2. Think positively
If you're suddenly stressed, reach for a positive thought to help refocus you.
3. Hunt for the sun
Bright light can be great for stress relief. Bask in the sun's rays.
4. Zone out
Find your headphones and listen to some music.
5. Give yourself a hand massage
Rub each finger from base to tip. Squeeze the skin between the thumb and index finger to loosen up any tightness.
6. Visualise
Picture yourself in a meadow, at the beach or by the river. Look up at the clouds, associate your worries with them... and then watch them float away.
7. Let some air in
Open a window and breathe in some fresh air.
8. Count all the way up to your age
Are you 36 years old? Then count to 36.
9. Concentrate on relaxing your shoulders
Roll them back three times, then roll them forward three times. Repeat this and your shoulders will soon loosen up.
10. Take a deep breath
In through the nose and out through the mouth. Slowly.
11. Meditate
Give yourself five minutes of peace and concentrate on your breath only. Relax.
12. Rationalise
It's easy to believe the problem is bigger than it is. If you're feeling negative towards yourself, take out all of these accusations and see the problem for what it really is.
13. Leave
If you're angry, walk immediately out of the room. You'll be able to stop yourself before you say something you'll regret later.
14. Keep a diary
If you find yourself getting stressed often, it's time to do some research. Grab a notebook and pen to mark down the times where you get stressful. Look out for patterns - it could be certain times of day, low sugar levels or certain people. Try and work out what triggers your stress and you'll be on the way to solving the problem.
15. Walk
Get the blood moving and take yourself out of the situation and out on a walk. Focus on your muscles. If you can, break out into a run.
16. Do some stretches
Relieve your muscles and have a good stretch.
17. Drink a green tea
It contains L-Theanine and will help relieve anger.
