    1. Author Stephanie C on April 26, 2017 at 5:28 pm

Hi Louisa. It's best to use hot water, as this increases the body temperature, therefore also increasing your metabolic rate - great for weight loss! I hope this helps :)

I am going to try this as I have terrible bloating and bad arthritis with a lot of joint pain. As I suffer from gastric reflux. Will the lemon make it worse or help?

    1. Author Stephanie C on May 23, 2017 at 9:14 am

Hi Sylvia. Sorry to hear you're in pain! Lemon can have an alkalizing effect on the stomach, helping to soothe it. This may indeed help your acid reflux. Good luck! :)

My mum used to make a large jug of lemon water when we had colds as children. It helps to clear mucus and is a good source of vitamins. It is a natural remedy and can be taken with paracetamol for aches and pains

Lemon in warm water is very good especially first thing in the morning, however, it is not great for the teeth becase of its acidity, so drink using a straw but use the reclycable straws.

I have the juice of a lemon with just cold water every morning, before anything else. I have done this for about 4 years now, and have banished my IBS symptoms. I seem to have fewer colds too.

Hi Gunner! The concentration of the lemon might be lower than in standard lemon water, but I should think the green tea will give you added benefits anyway.

I use half a lemon squeezed and topped up with hot water.

    2. Author Joanne A on January 25, 2023 at 12:18 pm

Yes, we'd suggest the juice of half a lemon per glass of water. However, some people prefer a stronger lemon flavour and use more, while others prefer a milder flavour and less.

Whenever we have colds I make a concoction of lemon water, honey, fresh grated garlic & fresh grated ginger. Serve this hot especially before bedtime, sometimes a shot of whisky for extra help. I wonder if it is partly psychological but it seems to help

    1. Author Joanne A on January 30, 2023 at 10:09 am

You can, though fresh lemon juice is generally considered to be healthier. Bottled lemon juice may have preservatives and added sugars.

Does bought lemon juice do the same, the sort yiou would sqirt on your fish, or do you need to make it from fresh lemons?

    1. Author Joanne A on March 9, 2023 at 10:24 am

Fresh lemons provide more nutritional benefits and better taste than bottled lemon juice, which may contain added preservatives and be pasteurized. However, if convenience is a concern, bottled lemon juice can still add flavour and provide vitamin C.

To enjoy lemon juice without causing heartburn, you can dilute it, drink it with food, avoid drinking it before bed, drink it at room temperature, and talk to your doctor if you experience discomfort.
