Home Hacks: 10 Ways To Make A Room Look Bigger

1. Declutter

Baskets are great for hiding clutter.

Getting rid of the clutter will make all the difference to your home. See our Declutter Your Home: 7 stress free ways to do it now post to find out how.

2. Match curtains & walls

Purchase curtains in the same colour as your walls - sticking to the same colour will make the room appear larger.

3. Mirrors

Reflections will make any room look larger. Placing a mirror directly across from a window will reflect light perfectly.

4. Sofas with legs

Buy furniture that takes up less visual space.

Exposed legs on a sofa will create the illusion of more light and therefore more space.

5. Rugs

Create the appearance of having different areas in one room with different coloured rugs.

6. Multi-purpose furniture

Buy furniture that can do more than one job. Consider investing in an Ottoman that could be useful as a storage space, seating and a table.

7. Keep it clean!

Making a cleaning kit will help you stay motivated.

Maintain your room by regular cleaning. Check out our Cleaning Tips & Home Hacks for more great tips.

8. Paint

Drive the eye upward with a painted ceiling in a bright colour. This will give the illusion that the ceiling is higher.

9. Lighting

Use a wall lamp rather than a table lamp. Take advantage of natural light to help open up your room.

10. Doors

Command hooks are great for temporary storage.

Add hooks to the back of doors for bags or coats. Use the bedroom door to hang scarves and belts.

By using Dulux LumiTec paint in small areas does help to enlarge the room. Have used in the small bedroom/office and the cloakroom.
