How To: Do An Easy Detox

If you don't have the time, money or will-power for a full-on detox, you need an 'easy-tox' - the easy and affordable way to detox! Feel good from the inside and out with these easy detox ideas.

These small changes will gently cleanse your body of toxins and help you feel healthy and revived.

1. Do a morning cleanse - inside and out

Drink a glass of water
Hydration is key.

Start the day with dry-brushing your skin for ten minutes before your morning shower to increase blood flow and encourage those toxins to release. It also helps remove dead skin cells and make skin looks smoother and tighter.

Work from the toes up and brush in circular movements towards the heart. Then after your hot shower, end with some cold water to close your hair follicles and give your skin an invigorating blast.

Before breakfast, drink a tall glass of hot water with lemon and ginger slices. This cleansing drink helps stimulate digestions, flushes out toxins and helps improve liver function.

2. Swap your caffeine fix

Most of us can't live without a daily brew or cup of coffee to give us a boost, but you can still get a caffeine fix and detox by drinking green tea. It's full of anti-oxidants and also increases your metabolism - helping your body burn more calories.

If you get bored of the taste of green tea, try infusing it with fresh mint or a dollop of honey. Honey is a great addition to hot drinks as it can also soothe a sore throat and other cold symptoms.

3. Get juicing and blending!

If you find it difficult or boring to eat fruit and vegetables every day, get juicing. It's an easy way to get in all your five a day as you can blend it all together into one easy cup and swig it down.

4. Fill up on fibre

To flush out toxins, eats plenty of food rich in fibre. Brown rice and vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, beetroot, and radishes are all high fibre detoxifying foods. They're inexpensive and easy to work into your diet as a side dish or part of a salad. Aim to get at least three portions of fibre at day into your diet.

5. Get plenty of Vitamin C

If you can't get it in your diet, take supplements.

Vitamin C encourages your body to produce glutathione, a liver compound that helps eliminate toxins. Food with high Vitamin C (these may surprise you...) include red and green chilli peppers, thyme, parsley, cauliflower and kiwi fruit. Aim to get in as much Vitamin C as you can and your body will be thanking you for it!

6. Drink water before every meal

To achieve the recommended 8 cups a day, have a large glass of water before any meal or snack. This will also help avoid over-eating when you mistake dehydration for hunger. For an added boost, add a feel sliced of lemon to your water.

7. Get your greens in

Make sure you eat plenty of leafy greens to help your body. they're full of fibre, iron and vitamins and minerals that will help aid digestion. Also, try to incorporate spinach and broccoli into your meals every day as they're super foods full of detoxifying nutrients.

8. Get moving and stretch it out!
